How do social networks affect our business?
Social media has both positive and negative effects on online businesses. To be precise, the positive effects over weigh the negative ones.
Social media promotion enables online business to reach millions of targeted audience in a quick time (if done right). Social media is like a town square and it is indispensable to our businesses displayed in the town and the right places.
Social media are shaping the whole world of business now, they changed the patterns and the behaviors of the customers, the business world changed from pushing to pulling method
It doesnt matter what industry you are in, it is always the same principles, different strategies or applications but the same.
Whoever think that SM is useless they will be left standing at the side of the street while still thinking that where everyone else is passing them by and waving
Impact of SM is that it is levling the field of marketing for the small andmedium companies to compete with the big ones, helping them to get their message across
Major networks are LI/FB/Twitter/Squido/Merchant circle they are way too many to mention depending on your niche.
One trend identified for 2010 is 'business as unusual'. Consumer preferences, transparency, online processes, cloud computing...everything is changing fast.
Keep up with the Googles, Amazons, Virgins and Twitters or die. Be dramatically different, embrace change, listen to the buzz on social media and emerge more ready to face evenn faster changes in 2010.
What is advertising? We've come to think that it is a means to SELL stuff. But what it's really about is a means to CONNECT seller with buyer. Social networks are a means to connect. So when we think about doing business / selling...we should be thinking about, "What is the best way to connect?" --- "What is the most intimate way I can connect with my prospect." Social networks facilitate these connections.
Well, for starters, this is “ze” question on everyone’s mind nowadays. So don’t get dispirited if the answer doesn’t come by easily. Join the club ;)
How "much"? A lot! You are here asking about it, I am here trying to help you out... get the picture?
How "does it do it"? Well, it is a case by case scenario. Only a handful can influence directly, i.e. LI, but other social websites can be a powerful source as well (i.e. twitter, Facebook) if you consider consumer's opinion and influence.
In a nutshell, people prefer doing business with people, rather than organizations.Social networks allow business people to
(1) LISTEN to what others are saying about them,
(2) to respond to problems/questions/challenges; (3) to build and manage an online brand presence.
The down sides are probably things which none of us know about as the average passer by won't tell you everything they are thinking.
It's a great way to send out a message to your contacts and the issue of distance is gone too which is very exciting. I've only been involved closely with online marketing for a year and already, many good things have happened. There may not be many but thinking about where we'll be in ten years is an encouraging thought.
With social media communication is quicker and must comprehend additional information.
in the B2B relation, that means that you will have a clearer idea of the people you are going to meet to sell or purchase something, to negotiate to; you will keep in touch with these people sharing interest and passions and not only business. If the realtion is softer, the task of selling or buying is simpler and it relies also on a trusted level.
In the B2C realtion, with social media you can have a clear target to your campaigns and fully use the viral diffusion mechanics, reducing the prices of advertisment and building a strong brand image. Then The Viral marketing allows you to get target people involved and engaged in your initiatives.
Social networks are only useless to businesses who don't know how to apply them to their overall marketing efforts. Social media is an effective business tool for those who know how to use them. A hammer is a great tool but if you use it the wrong way it can potentially hurt you...the same way social media could potentially do damage to a company's reputation if not used properly.
In two words: Social Media IS ESSENTIAL!
